Media, civil society denounce violence by doctors
LAHORE: Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) and Lahore Press Club observed a black day Tuesday to protest doctors’ violence against journalists last week. They took out a rally from the club to Punjab Assembly.
Journalists, members of the civil society, PML-Q, PTI, and members of Human Liberation Commission participated in the protest.
Speaking on the occasion, Central President of the PFUJ, Parvez Shoukat said that the government of Punjab had been given April 10 deadline to withdraw cases against journalists, otherwise journalist would stage sits-in all over the country. President Lahore Press Club, Sarmad Bashir alleged that Dr Saeed Elaahi was supporting the violent doctors. He said the next sit-in would be held in front of Chief Minister House.
