Media centre set up to facilitate journalists

ISLAMABAD (APP) — The government has established a Media Facilitation Centre near Covered Market – a nearby place to Lal Masjid to enable mediapersons to perform their professional duties in a befitting manner.

Additional Deputy Commissioner General (ADCG), Amir Ali Ahmad Monday told APP that now a specific place has been designated for the journalists where briefings and press conferences can be arranged.
He said Press Information Department (PID) has provided communication facilities in the media centre including telephone and fax.
He said as many as 152 male students under the age 18 of seminary have been handed over by Islamabad Capital Territory to their amily after completing necessary legal procedure.
Islamabad Capital Territory Administration had set up a Facilitation Centre at Pakistan Sports Complex in collaboration with Khubaib Foundation to safely deliver the children to their families. He said the remaining 10 or 12 students of the seminary will be handed over to their families soon after completion of legal formalities.
Amir Ali Ahmad said the students have been divided into batches with regard to their ages and would be handed over to their families turn by turn.
According to an official record a total 448 male, 431 female and 152 children surrendered and were arrested by law enforcement agencies.
All females have been handed over to their parents or relatives and a total amount of Rs. 680,000 were disbursed among 136 female as compensation so far.
A total of 147 were injured during the operation out of that 156 were discharged after necessary medical aid while 41 were hospitalized.
