Man kills mother, three sisters

PESHAWAR, August 22 2006: In a quadruple murder case in Sethi Town, a jobless youth shot dead his mother and three real sisters in cold blood after he had already dug graves for their burial in a Muhib Banda graveyard on Monday (Aug 21). The accused, Aleem Shah, 27, had been jobless for several weeks. On Monday (Aug 21), police reports and statements of his brother Kalim Shah and a sister-in-law said, the family was discussing the marriage of their 24 years old sister, Farzana. They were under stress for having problems in arranging dowry for their sister.

In the meantime the accused rushed towards his room, brought out a repeater gun and fired shots at Farzana. He then targeted another sister, Zaibunnisa, 20, and Sabaunnisa, 15, killing them on the spot as well.

His mother, Pukhraj, who came to the rescue of her daughters, was also shot and killed. One of the younger sisters of the accused, it was reported, took shelter in the bathroom while another locked herself in a room as gun-totting Kaleem ran after them. The accused then took the bodies of all the deceased to a graveyard in Muhib Banda village near Pabbi Town of Nowshera where he already had dug graves for their burial. Some locals, however, saw the accused burying females in a suspicious way and informed the Pabbi Police. The accused managed to flee from the scene before the police could arrive.

Police later got information that a sister of the deceased was married to Liaquat in the same village. The bodies were later taken to their home in Sethi Town in the jurisdiction of Chamkani Police Station here by the family of Liaqat.

A sister-in-law of the accused and deceased told reporters that Samina, the wife of Liaquat of Muhib Banda, was not happy with her marriage and the couple used to clash every day. The situation, she added, might have forced Aleem to kill her sisters so that the family would not face such problems in the future. However, there were certain contradictions in the statement of the family members as well as the investigators.
