Man killed in accidental blast

KARAK, Oct 22: A young man was killed and his two accomplices were critically injured when a bomb went off accidentally while they were carrying it in the Karak town late on Sunday night.

Officials said police found the injured men carrying two bombs, a hand grenade and two mobile phone sets and arrested them.

The deceased was identified as Shakiruddin, son of Israrul Haq, who was a resident of the Tableeghi Markaz Koroona, Karak. The injured were identified as Mohammad Sabir Khan, son of Rasul Khan, and Mohammad Nazir, son of Gul Faraz.

Sources claimed that the three were local workers of the Shabab-i-Milli. They planned to blow up the district offices of an NGO, Khwaendo Kor, situated barely 400 yards away from the blast scene.

However, officials claimed that the injured men had told the police during preliminary interrogation that they were carrying the bombs to attack music and CD shops.

The police cordoned off the area after the explosion and collected evidence from the blast site. Both the injured men were taken into custody.

Police also conducted raids on the houses of the three men to find clues that could lead to other accused involved in bomb explosions in Karak.

The police handed over the body of Shakirullah to his relatives, while the injured were shifted to Peshawar.
