In a testament to democratic norms, the Landikotal Press Club has recently concluded its election process for 2024, marking a new chapter in its leadership. Journalists from Landikotal tehsil participated actively in the voting, heralding Shah Rehman Shinwari as the club’s new president. Shinwari, who secured a commendable majority of 17 votes out of the total 21, is now tasked with steering the club towards an era marked by progress and journalistic integrity.

Alongside President Shinwari, Umar Ali Shinwari stood out in these elections for his uncontested victory. Umar Ali Shinwari, now set for his third term as the general secretary, was elected without facing any competition, signaling a strong confidence in his leadership abilities within the club. The list of key positions filled also includes Malik Parvez Khan Afridi as the Vice-President and Shahid Khan Afridi as the Finance Secretary, each bringing their unique skills to the table.

Support from Different Sectors

The elections at Landikotal Press Club were not just an internal affair. They attracted attention from various sectors, including political leaders, trader unions, the police, and district administration officials. The presence of these groups and their commendations for the club’s commitment to democratic practices underscored the critical role of journalism in society.

Upon accepting his new role, President Shah Rehman Shinwari made a solemn pledge to the journalists he now leads and the broader community he serves. His cabinet, he affirmed, would work diligently for the welfare of all, placing the interests of journalists and the community at the heart of their endeavors.
