LAHORE: Three people, including a retired major, a journalist and a young man were injured when a speeding car rammed into a road’s divider and collided into two other cars on the Jail Road late on Friday night.

Police told Daily Times that Kashif and Haroon, both in their early twenties and residents of Allama Iqbal Town, were rushing home when Haroon (the driver) lost control over his car about 100 yards away from Shadman Chowk. The car rammed into the road bisector and going over to the other side of the road, crashed into two cars — one driven by Major (r) Muhammad Sharif Raja, a resident of DHA and the other driven by Mian Abid, chief reporter of a local newspaper. The three cars were totally wrecked.

Edhi officials rushed the injured people to Services Hospital where doctors said they were stable and let them go home after giving them first aid. The police said they had not registered any case yet and are in contact with all the people involved. Some eyewitnesses said Haroon and Kashif were drunk due to which the accident had happened. Haroon, however, said the accident was not his fault. He said the two cars were racing. He said that when they passed him from both sides, he got confused and lost control.
