KPC to hold literary workshop on August 20

KARACHI, August 17 2005: Literary Committee of Karachi Press Club is going to organise workshop on a new book of criticism written by Rauf Nizamani, an analyst and critic of Sindhi literature, on August 20, at 5-00 pm. Renowned drama and short story writer Abdul Qadir Junejo, Dr Asif Farrukhi, Manoj Kumar, Amar Leghari and Ameer Abro will read their papers at the programme.

The book, with the title of ‘Jadeed Sindhi Kahani’ (Modern Sindhi Short story), contains 14 research-oriented articles in which the author has reviewed around 100 short stories, produced by different contemporary writers from 1920 to 1992.

The book published by Indus Publishers, Karachi.

The author has discussed the work produced before the partition of sub-continent, impact of anti One-Unit and anti martial-law struggle on literature, social background of writers, their approach and political commitment, themes, influence of social problems and overall change in ideas in new Sindhi stories being produced now.
