Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government inks MoU to hold art workshop

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa culture department Tuesday signed MoU with Hunarkada Islamabad to holding a international art workshop ‘FACE OFF’ and ‘Ghani Khan, The Image Maker’, here.

The agreement was signed in the presence of KP Minister for Culture and Information, Mian Iftikhar Hussain and Secretary Culture and Information, Azmat Hanif Orakzai in a simple but impressive ceremony.

The MoU was signed between Director Culture, Pervez Sabat Khel and Chairman Hunarkada Islamabad, Jamal Shah.

Speaking on the occasion, Mian Iftikhar said that starting of cultural activities in the terror-hit province was not an easy task but the credit goes to the present government, which ensured cultural activities in the entire province.

He said that it was his dream, which has been cherished with the support of the people and artists and his team.

The minister said that after holding various cultural and fashion shows, exhibitions and Hunar Mela here and successful theatre play on Pashto Sufi Poet, Abdul Rahman Baba is the success story of his department.

This, he added, would be followed by theatre plays on Khushal Khan Khattak, Pir Rokhan and Fakhr-e-Afghan Bacha Khan.

He furthered that theatre play on Rahman Baba would be displayed in Lahore, Karachi, Quetta and Islamabad.

‘FACE OFF’ is meant to sensitise the society about tolerance, terrorism and projection of peaceful culture of the province.

It will include artists discourse followed by a grant exhibition of the work produced during a two-week long discourse and art workshop.

The event will be attended by notable artists from all possible disciplines of visual and performing art, literature, journalism, media and experts from Pakistan as well as other countries.

Through the activity, talented youth will be given the opportunity to work with senior colleagues.

Similarly, ‘Ghani Khan’ will be executed by culture department and Hunarkada Islamabad and will include collection of work, framing, curetting and printing of book.
