Kamila Shamsie’s ‘Home Fire’, Mohsin Hamid’s ‘Exit West’ shortlisted for international award

British-Pakistani author Kamila Shamsie has managed to garner numerous fans courtesy her flair for writing. Her book Home Fire was loved by many around the world and went on to win various accolades, the most notable being the women’s prize for fiction in the UK.

Shamsie has now announced that Home Fire has led her to be shortlisted for this year’s Dublin Literary Award. The official Twitter handle for Dublin Lit Award shared the news with a tweet that read, “The 2019 shortlist is out!” with a collage of all the books that have been shortlisted. Shamsie went on to re-share this via Instagram.

Along with Home Fire, Mohsin Hamid’s Exit West can also be seen in the post.  But, this isn’t the first time the two authors have been shortlisted together. Last year witnessed both Shamsie and Hamid  nominated for the DSC Prize for South Asian Literature and also longlisted for the coveted Man Booker prize.

The two books will be competing against the likes of  History Of Wolvesby Emily Fridluad, Midwinter Break by Bernard MacLaverty and Conversation With Friends by Sally Rooney.

The Dublin Literary Festival about honours books nominated by public libraries around the globe. Titles are then nominated on the basis of ‘high literary merit’ as determined by the nominating library.

The Dublin Literary Award is an annual prize and the winner is awarded €100,000. The winning book will be announced on 12th June 2019.
