LAHORE –  Former Lahore High Court judge meeting Amir Raza Khan is mulling to refuse the government offer of holding an inquiry into the leaked story of a security, disclosed PML-N Central Information Secretary Mushahidullah Khan, while addressing a media conference along with Muhammad Mehdi, chairman, SOCH, an NGO, at Lahore Press Club yesterday.

The government had appointed Justice (r) Amir as head of the inquiry commission in view of his talents, capability and integrity, but he may separate himself from the probe after objections from the opposition political parties, Mushahidullah said, while responding to queries from reporters.

When asked what necessitated the government to appoint the commission when a probe was already conducted by the interior minister under the instructions of the prime minister and its findings needed to be made public and implemented, he replied the commission was purported to make the inquiry results more acceptable to the public and lend impartiality to the probe.

The former minister for climate change alleged the PTI was serving interests of the foreign powers which did not want to see Pakistan as a thriving economy with nuclear power and Islamic system on its back. He told the media persons that those powers were against the project which would become a route to $1000 billion trade throughout the world. Moreover, with the advent of new power players like China and Russia in the Arabian Sea, the project would damage the hegemony of America and Britain. He said Israel was also against Pakistan as a strong nuclear state since it did not suit its agenda. He said at present CPEC was the biggest target of the international power players, including India.

He said in the same vein that America-led world was not recognising 60,000 sacrifices offered by Pakistanis to eliminate terrorism, adding some countries were still trying to get Pakistan declared a terrorist state. He said PTI and PAT, knowingly or unknowingly, were serving the interests of these forces. He said: “If we have to survive, we must complete CPEC.” In this background, he urged PTI to change the style of politics as it was in conformity with the agenda of anti-Pakistan elements.

Mushahidullah further said the parties demanding accountability were themselves non-serious as they feared screw being tightened around them if accountability was genuinely held. And if these parties do politics of protest, they would indirectly promote agenda of the enemies of Pakistan. Referring to 2014 Islamabad dharna of PTI and PAT, he said, it had caused so much loss to the country that the Chinese president himself had to urge these parties to defer their protest just for two weeks so that he could come to Pakistan to discuss the CPEC, but no heed was paid to it.

Terming these parties NGOs, he said their activity was causing a loss to the vital national interests.

The minister was also critical to the KP CM’s act of taking the CPEC to the court of law and said such matters could have best settled through the parliament.

Answering a question, he said the government would definitely complete its term. However, he pointed out certain political elements were out to create misunderstandings between the military and the civil leadership for their personal interests.

He, however, said such elements would never succeed in achieving their nefarious designs. To a question on the politics of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, he commented it would be fantastic if he followed the politics of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. He said PPP had failed to take stock of the factors which led it to defeat in the last election as corruption and loot was going on as usual in Sindh being ruled by the party.
