Judicial commission to probe Frontier Post issue

ISLAMABAD- The Federal Cabinet has decided to appoint a judicial commission to probe into the publication of a sacrilegious letter in a Peshawar-based English daily and identify those responsible for it. “The NWFP Governor has been directed to appoint the judicial commission,” sources said, adding that the Federal Cabinet condemned the publication and vowed not to spare the culprits.

Chaired by Chief Executive General Pervez Musharraf, the Cabinet meeting asked the people to remain peaceful as the government was fully cognizant to the publication of the letter which hurt the emotions of Muslims.

“The government will not allow the culprits go scout free after they are identified by the judicial commission,” the cabinet unanimously agreed.

Following the publication of blasphemous letter in The Frontier Post on Monday last, the government had sealed the offices of the daily. An angry mob had also set ablaze the press machinery of the newspaper.
