Journalists walk out from proceedings
Karachi:Journalists covering Sindh Assembly proceedings staged a token walkout on Thursday against attempt on life of President Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ) Shamim-ur Rehman and police action against journalists in Islamabad and other cities.
Journalists belonging to print and electronic media condemned the act through a resolution adopted in the meeting of the press committee of the Sindh Assembly and expressed serious concern over the brutal action of police.
The meeting declared that the journalists’ fraternity would decide the future line of action if the culprits involved in the attempt on life of KUJ president and those who used brute force against journalists in Islamabad and other cities were not arrested till October 6.
Earlier, the KUJ condemned the life attempt on its president at an emergency meeting held at the Karachi Press Club and demanded of the government to ensure the safety of the journalists.
The KUJ demanded to apprehend the culprits by Saturday failing which the journalists would decide the future course of action in their meeting scheduled for Monday.
