Journalists’ union to get grants from Sindh government

Provincial Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon handed over annual grant cheques to Sukkur, Mirpur Khas Press Clubs and Sukkur Union of Journalists.

The provincial minister presented Rs. 5million each to office bearers of Sukkur Press Club, Mirpur Khas Press Club and Sukkur Union of Journalists.

The cheque of Sukkur Press Club and Sukkur Union of Journalists was received by PFUJ Finance Secretary Lala Asad Pathan, President SUJ Saleem Sahito and President Sukkur Press Club Shahzad Tabani.  President MirpurKhas Press club  Nazeer Panhwar, Atif Baloch General Secretary, Shaukat Panhwar and  Wahid Pehlwani members Governing Body received the cheque for Press Club Mirpurkhas.

On this occasion, Secretary Sindh Information Department Imran Atta Soomro, Director Admin Muhammad Yousuf Kabooro, Regional Director Information Mirpur Khas Hizbullah Memon, Director Press Information Syed Hasan Asghar Naqvi and others officers were also present.

Sharjeel Inam Memon while speaking on the occasion said that Sindh Government is taking measures to ensure facilities in all press clubs of the province, adding that resolving the problems of journalists is among the priorities of Sindh Government. Apart from the press club, he added that government is also extending full cooperation to journalists’ organizations so as to ensure the welfare of journalists. He said that Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has directed Sindh government to solve the issues of journalists. He said that Pakistan People’s Party had always introduced policies for the promotion of Independent media and for the welfare of media workers.
