Journalists seek colleague’s recovery
ISLAMABAD: The Rawalpindi-Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ) held a protest demonstration on Wednesday in front of the National Press Club (NPC) to demand early recovery of senior journalist Kamal Azfar.
Mr Azfar, who is a former RIUJ president, went missing while travelling to his native town of Gumbat from Kohat.
A large number of journalists participated in the demonstration and asked the NWFP government to take immediate steps to recover Mr Azfar.
RIUJ General Secretary Jamil Mirza requested Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry to take suo motu notice of the incident.
NPC President Afzal Butt, former president Tariq Chaudhry, newly-elected general secretary Jamil Mirza and his predecessor Bilal Thaheem also spoke on the occasion, and strongly condemned the mysterious disappearance.
