Journalists protest for recovery of kidnapped anchorperson Salman Mirza

The journalist community held a protest outside the Karachi Press Club for the recovery of anchorperson Salman Mirza, who was abducted from his home on the night of February 5th in Karachi. Salman Mirza’s elderly parents, spouse and other family members also participated in the demonstration. Journalists gave an ultimatum to the law enforcement agencies till Monday and demanded the safe recovery of Salman Mirza.

On the appeal of Karachi Union of Journalists Adhoc Committee and Anchors Club, a demonstration was held on Saturday evening in which a large number of journalists participated. According to family, anchorperson Salman Mirza was abducted by unknown armed men at 3 o’clock in the night of February 5th.

The armed men also took away his mobile phone. Immediately after the incident, the family approached the Gulistan-e-Johar police station, but the police refused to register a case.In the protest, President Karachi Press Club Saeed Sarbazi, Senior Journalists Member PFUJ FEC Javed Chaudhry, Chairman Karachi Union of Journalists Adhoc Committee Muhammad Imtiaz Khan Faran, Maqsood Yousufi, Naseer Ahmed, Arif Baloch, Zulfiqar Rajpar, Founder Anchors Club Akhtar Shaheen Rind, Tahir Hasan Khan and others expressed their views.Journalist leaders said that ban on freedom of expression is unacceptable, the constitution gives freedom of expression to every citizen.
