Journalist’s killing condemned
SHERGARH: A special meeting of the City Press Club of Shergarh was held here to condemn the target killing of a correspondent of a private TV channel in Bangor, Balochistan.
The meeting was presided over by CPC President Dr Ziaul Hassan. It strongly condemned the killing of Rehmatullah Abid who was shot dead two days ago. They prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul. Later, they held a protest demonstration in front of the CPC and vented their anger on the government failure to provide protection to the journalist community.
Addressing the demonstration, Dr Zia said such cowardly attacks on journalists could not affect their commitment to their profession. He urged the government to devise reliable security mechanism for journalists as Pakistan is becoming the most vulnerable country for the journalists. He said the journalists would continue to discharge their duties honestly and demanded that the government should bring the killers of Rehmatullah to justice.
