Journalists brief Senate body
ISLAMABAD – A group of Pakistani journalists who recently visited held Kashmir presented its perspective on their journey to Kashmir during a meeting with the Senate Foreign Relations Committee here on Thursday.
Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, Chairman of the Committee, lauded the presentation of the journalists, who were unanimous in their views about irreversible alienation of Kashmiris from India.
Senator Prof Khurshid Ahmed said that earlier he had reservations about the visit of journalists to held Kashmir but after hearing them, he had changed his mind and he felt that this was a positive initiative.
Other members, including SM Zafar, Nisar Memon, Tariq Azeem Khan, Maulana Samiul Haq and Sardar Mehtab welcomed the visit of the journalists to held Kashmir and appreciated the initiatives of the chairman for arranging the hearing.
Foreign Secretary Riaz H Khokhar, who was also present on the occasion, termed the hearing a positive effort since a lot of information was provided by the journalists on their visit.
Most of the journalists urged that the government of Pakistan should clearly spell out Pakistan’s policy on Kashmir.
They also stressed that Muzaffarabad-Srinagar bus service should be started as a positive message to the people of held Kashmir.
