Journalist succumbs to injuries in hospital

SWABI – Arshad Ali Khan, a young journalist working for a local weekly, succumbed to his injuries in Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar, on Saturday.

Three days back, he got seriously injured when his maternal uncle and other relatives clashed with one another. Khan wanted to settle their dispute, but was erroneously shot. He got seriously injured. He was immediately brought to the district headquarter and after the first aid he was referred to LRH, Peshawar. He was under treatment for the last three days and doctors were hopeful that he would recover. However, he succumbed to his injuries. His body was brought to his native town Shahmansoor where he was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard.

His funeral was attended by journalists, officers of the district administration, politicians of various political parties and people of Shahmansoor.

Meanwhile Gandhara Union of Journalists, Abaseen Union of Journalists, Swabi Union of Journalists, District Union of Journalists expressed deep shock over the sad demise of Khan. They lauded his services and contributions to the field of journalism at the district level.
