Journalist slain
NAWABSHAH: A senior journalist of Shahpur Jahania was murdered at a local market here on Wednesday.
Munir Ahmed Arain was sitting at his decoration shop when some unidentified men attacked him with hatchets, fatally injuring him. Munir was rushed to the Nawabshah Medical College Hospital but succumbed to the injuries on his way. After the incident, citizens and mediamen staged a demonstration by blocking the main road.
The road was reopened for traffic after Taluka Police Officer Nusrat Shaikh held talks with the protesters and assured them of killers’ arrest within 24 hours. The Shahpur Jahania press club hoisted black flag on the building and announced a three-day mourning. Later, the burial of the slain journalist was held at in Shahpur Jahania.
