Journalist loses four relatives for arranging reporters’ visit to Wana

PESHAWAR: A tribal journalist, Din Mohammad, who helped media people visit Wana and its adjacent towns a few days ago suffered irreversible loss during the past three days, when foreign militants killed three of his uncles and 15-year-old brother one by one.

The ill-fated reporter in Dera Ismail Khan had facilitated journalists from Peshawar, Tank and Dera Ismail Khan who were invited by commander of the tribal militants in Wana, Maulvi Nazeer.

Maulvi Nazeer wanted media people to see his strength and visit the areas his people captured from Uzbek fighters. Din Mohammad felt pride when he was given the task of helping people of his community in reaching Wana.

Din Mohammad accompanied journalists from Tank to Wana via isolated routes and then took them to the alleged hideouts and torture centres of Uzbeks. The foreigners attacked the house of Din Mohammad in Kaja Panga near Azam Warsak on Sunday and killed his uncle Mohammad Amir and his 15-year-old brother Mohammad Aslam and kidnapped his uncle Juma Khan alias Haji Jimak. There were also rumours that Din Mohammad also went missing and was probably kidnapped by the Uzbeks.
