Journalist goes missing
ISLAMABAD: Veteran journalist and Singapore-based online newspaper Asian Times Bureau Chief in Pakistan, Saleem Shahzad, disappeared from capital on Sunday evening.
Police said Saleem Shahzad left his house in Sector F-8/1 for recording a TV programme at Dunya TV, but did not reach the channel`s office.
He was scheduled to record the programme over his news published in Asian Times on May 27 under the headline `Al-Qaeda had warned of Pakistan strike` at 6pm.
The staff of the channel tried to contact the journalist on his phone at around 5:45pm, but it was found switched off.
The police said he was last seen in Sector F-6. Details of his mobile phone were sought from the authorities concerned to trace the location of the missing man, the police added.
The Margalla police have registered a kidnapping case on the complaint lodged by his brother-in-law, Hamza Amir.
