Journalist community scared of govt acts

LARKANA – The journalist’s community all over Sindh province including Larkana, Ratodero,
Kamber-Shahdadkot, Dadu, Mehar, Nasir Abad, Shikarpur, Jacobabad and other parts are harassed after hearing reports of arrests of journalists and political activists across the country.

They were receiving threats of arrest if they performed their duties regularly. The police personnel entered into the boundaries of Press Clubs for monitoring the activities of journalists.

A number of journalists have been arrested across the country and more arrests are being expected in Larkana district, said the sources.

The PFUJ and other journalist organizations continue to protest against curbs put on media. They also expressed their concern over the manhandling and arrest of reporters by police and other law enforcement agencies.

The journalists in Larkana and other parts have demanded the authorities to protect the journalists and to take action against the involved officials.

Meanwhile, the senior journalists have also protested the restrictions on the TV channels. They demanded immediate lifting of restraints on the media and release of the detained journalists.

The political parties including PPP, PML-N, STPP, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf, Khaksar Tehreek and other groups did not come to press club, as police was present in Larkana Press Club on Saturday.
