Journalist Alamgir Bittani laid to rest

ISLAMABAD: Alamgir Bittani, a veteran journalist hailing from Federal Administrative Tribal Areas (Fata), was buried in his native village Haider, District Tank, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday. His funeral prayers were attended by notable journalists hailing from Fata, Peshawar, DIKhan and Bunnu besides a large number of political and social figures.

He died in Peshawar Friday after a cardiac arrest. Alamgir Bittani, a devoted journalist started his career as local correspondent with various Urdu newspapers and later on joined Mashriq daily, Peshawar as district correspondent from Tank. He also contributed as stinger to various international media outlets like British Broadcasting Corporation Urdu and Pashtu Radio Service.

He gained popularity after his valuable contributions over the military operations in adjacent South Waziristan Agency and North Waziristan. Due to his impartial coverage of events and unfolding networks of militants, he often received threats from terrorist, which forced him to move to Peshawar from his native city.
