SHADADPUR, July 21 2006: Despite Sindh Home Minister Rauf Siddiqui’s warning that stern action would be taken against holders of Jirgas, the menace is successfully surviving. Bhongar Khoso, who has been asked by a Jirga to give his two minor daughters as fine for failing to return a loan of Rs 25,000, threatened on July 20 to set himself and his children on fire if his family were not provided with security. He alleged that armed men of the Rind tribe were threatening to abduct his daughters if he did not pay the debt. He also alleged that police were not arresting Sardar Ghulam Rasool Alkhani and 16 other participants of the Jirga.
