IT`s vital role in classroom learning stressed
HYDERABAD: Integration of information technology (IT) into classroom learning will help students in acquiring the skills they need to survive in a complex but highly technological knowledge-based economy.
Pro Vice Chancellor, Sindh University Campus, Dr Parveen Shah said this on Saturday at the certificate distribution ceremony of two-week workshop on “Incorporating technology in education” organized by the Faculty of Education, University of Sindh, in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission under the project National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE).
She said IT in the last two decades had spread in all activities and now it was ubiquitous, touching every sphere of human life.
Yet, most schools lag far behind in incorporating IT in classroom learning as it meant more than teaching basic computer skills and software programmes in separate computer classes, she said. “IT changes the way of teaching by providing educators effective ways to reach to different types of learners and assess their understanding level through multiple means. It also enhances teacher- student relationship.”
