ISLAMABAD-Federal Secretary for Information Syed Anwar Mehmmod on Tuesday said that PTV being a national asset had to compete private channels to maintain its distinctive place among masses.

“ The PTV staff has to prove that despite a state run media it is still enjoying popularity among the people of Pakistan”, he said while addressing an oath taking ceremony of All PTV Employees and Workers Union office bearers.

Lauding the role of PTV for promoting national solidarity, he said that PTV was still holding a unique position in Pakistan and abroad and all that went to the laborious work of its dedicated employees.

“ We have to improve it more without sacrificing our national and religious norms”, he added. At the oath taking ceremony on the request of PTV union Federal Secretary announced 5.25 million bonus for PTV employees on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha.
He highly appreciated the competence and sincerity of managing director, PTV, Yousaf Baig Mirza who according to him was burning midnight oil to bring revolutionary changes in PTV in the changing scenarios.

Yousaf Baig Mirza, MD, PTV in his address said the policies had been formulated for the progress of organisation and welfare of its hardworking staff. “ The monetary well-being of the organisation will ultimately bring benefits to its employees”, he observed.
He urged the employees of PTV to work for amicable relations between the union and administration. “ We have to work hand in hand for the betterment of PTV”, the MD noted.

Earlier, the Federal Secretary for Information took oath from the recently elected office bearers of All PTV Employees and Workers Union.
