Importance of radio highlighted
KARACHI, June 16 2006: The State Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Senator Tariq Azeem, highlighting the significance of radio as a medium for the dissemination of information, has said that it would also be revived as a medium in the country. He stated this during his visit to the Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC), Broadcasting House, Karachi. The General Secretary, United Staff Organisation, PBC Karachi, Ansarul Haque informed the minister about problems being faced by the organisation.
He demanded that 709 employees of PBC, Karachi, Hyderabad, Khairpur be paid 20 per cent Secretariat/Personnel Allowance as is being done in other parts of the country. The union also demanded about the implementation of house requisition facility to all employees of the organisation. The minister asked the Station Director, Iqbal Azam Faridi to put up a summary in this regard to him so that he could look into the matter.
