IHC to hear petition against Aurat March

Pakistan Press Foundation

ISLAMABAD:As the Aurat March is to be taken out on Sunday across the country, the citizens of Islamabad have approached the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to stop it from happening in their city.

The IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah would hear the case on Friday (today). The federal government and Islamabad chief commissioner have been made respondents in the application filed by eight citizens.

The petitioners labeled the march as contradictory with Islamic values and moral ethos of Pakistani culture.

They added that the slogans raised by the participants were opposite to the teachings of Islam along with the moral, legal and constitutional parametres of the Islamic republic.

They pleaded the court to stop the event from taking place in Islamabad and set a punishment for those violating orders. Immodesty is being spread in the name of freedom, the applicant stated.
