ICS block to be named after Dr Miskeen Hijazi
LAHORE – Prof Dr Miskeen Ali Hijazi was an honest teacher, true scholar and a kindhearted person. “I have never seen Dr Hijazi in anger over an association of 20 years and he was loyal to his profession. He has never been a part of university politics and was extremely talented and hard working person,” these views were expressed by Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran, Vice Chancellor Punjab University during the condolence reference of Dr Hijazi held at Hameed Nizami Conference Room in the Institute of Communication Studies (ICS) on Wednesday.

Addressing the gathering, Editor-in-Chief Daily Pakistan Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami said that he and Dr Miskeen shared the same ideologies though the way of expressing was different, adding “I expressed them as a journalist and he used to express them as a teacher”. He said, “The late teacher was like a lamp, who not only gives light but also gives life to others”.
On this occasion, Prof Dr Mugeesuddin Sheikh (Director ICS) has expressed his deep sorrow over this sad demise and said that Dr Hijazi was the first person who congratulate him when he took the charge as the chairman of this department. Former Chairman Prof Dr Shafique Jallendhry, Prof Dr Mujahid Mansoori of ICS, Mr Zia-ur-Rehman, Prof Dr Mumtaz Salik, Dr Mohammed Aslam Dogar, Prof Dr Khawaja Zikaria, Dr Waqar Chaudhry, Prof Dr Hafiz Iqbal, Prof Dr Dil Mohammed Malik, Mohammed Aslam Khan and Nadeem-ul-Hassan Gillani also spoke on the occasion. The family members of Prof Dr Hijazi also attended the reference and thanked Prof Dr Mugeesuddin Sheikh for arranging the programme.
Prof Dr Mugheesuddin Sheikh announced at the reference that under construction block at the Institute of Communication Studies has been dedicated to Prof Dr Miskeen Ali Hijazi.
APP to honour Dr Hijazi
To commemorate the services of late Dr Miskeen Ali Hijazi in the field of journalism and education, Associate Press of Pakistan (APP) Bureau Chief Dr Waqar Chaudhry announced gold medal for the overall first position holder of the Institute of Communication Studies (ICS). Dr Waqar made this announcement during the condolence reference of Dr Hijazi at ICS.
