HYDERABAD: Kidnapped newsman released

HYDERABAD- The staff reporter of the daily Sindhu, Ghulam Hussain Hajano, was released by his tormentors in the wee hours of Friday. He had been kidnapped from the Central Jail Road at 7:30pm.

He alleged that he was kidnapped by Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Khan M. Jamali of Sakrand, Ali Hassan Chandio, and two others and kept blindfolded at some police post. He said that they questioned him about the whereabouts of a girl.

He said that around 2:30am on Friday, he was taken to Saeedabad and abandoned in a field with his hands and feet tied. He said he crawled towards a road where a few labourers spotted him and called the police.

He said Station House Officer (SHO) Shahnawaz of the Saeedabad police station arrived there and took him away to produce him before the Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP), Hala, Miandad Jakhro. He said the Hyderabad police recorded his statement and let him go.
