Housemaid ‘tortured to death’
LAHORE – An 18-year-old housemaid died after a woman allegedly tortured her at N-Block in North Cantt area in the wee hours of Monday. The deceased was identified as Kosar Bibi, daughter of Bahadur Ali, a resident of Bhatta Chowk.
As per details, the deceased had been working as a housemaid at a house (102) of a businessman namely Khuram alias Bao since long. She was being paid Rs 4,000 per month. The family maintained that Kosar left the home some six months back as she was allegedly being victimised of severe agony but her owner (Nasreen Bibi) reconciled her back promising to treat her generously.
Azeza Bibi, sister of the deceased, said that Nasreen phoned her on Sunday night and informed that Kosar was unconscious at her home. “She was lying unconscious in washroom when I approached the home,” she stated to the police. But on the other side, Nasreen revealed that she just slapped her on which she took poisonous pills. The family shifted Kosar to National Defence Hospital where the doctors pronounced her dead on Monday. Later, her body was handed over to her heirs after necessary medico-legal formalities. Further investigations are underway.
