HEC’s website puzzle

THIS is apropos of the news item, ‘Website puzzle for HEC’ reported by Imran Ali Teepu (April 26). It is sad to note that the institution has been totally clueless about the presence of a mock website, but I was surprised to read the statement of the so-called IT expert about Google placing its advertisements on websites reaching a certain number of visitors per day.

Being an IT expert and working with website development and optimisation, I would like to point out that there exists no such mechanism.

The Google ads which we see on websites are generated by the placement of ad sense code by the webmaster himself, carrying a unique publisher id. The revenue generated is, of course, shared by the webmaster. The website has been reaping dollars in profit by using a fake domain in the name of a government institution.
