Government to respond to ads ban today

ISLAMABAD – The Federal government on March 10, promised to respond on March 11, to a calling attention notice moved by the Alliance for Restoration of Democracy (ARD) regarding ban on the government advertisements to The Nation and Nawa-i-Waqt.

PPP-P MNA Syed Naveed Qamar, PML-N Acting Parliamentary Leader Ch. Nisar Ali Khan, PPP-P’s Raja Pervez Ashraf, Syed Khurshid Ahmed Shah and Sherry Rehman moved the calling attention notice in the National Assembly.

NA Speaker Ch. Amir Hussain deferred the calling attention notice for March 11, after no one of the concerned ministers was available to submit the government’s reply on it.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Raza Hayat Hirraj requested the Chair to defer the notice after Syed Naveed Qamar and Khurshid Shah, the movers, stood up asking the ruling side to give reply to it. “It is ironical that no one of the ministers is present for a reply,” said Naveed Qamar.

These MNAs contended that they “invite the attention of the Minister for Information and Broadcasting to a matter of urgent public importance regarding ban on the government advertisements to The Nation and Nawa-i-Waqt, causing grave concern amongst the public.”
