Geo TV received the first Pakistan Society of Human Resource Management Award, 2007,’Most Preferred Graduate Employer in Pakistan’ in the media sector at a ceremony Tuesday evening. Shaukat Tareen, Chairman, Karachi Stock Exchange, presented the award to Imran Aslam, President, Geo TV network. The award in the category of the most preferred employer in the media sector went to Geo TV. Others who received awards in their respective categories included Standard Chartered Bank, Unilever (Pakistan) in consumers’ goods category, Telenor in the Telecom sector, Geo TV in media, Shell (Pakistan) Oil and Gas, and Glaxo-Smith-Kline in the pharmaceutical.
Ten top companies were awarded with Unilever (Pakistan) at the top, followed by Proctor and Gamble, Standard Chartered Bank followed ABN-AMRO and CitiBank, Nestle Pakistan, Glaxo-Smith-Kline, Telenor, and HSBC.
Pakistan State Oil has won the Most Preferred Local Company award as the highest ranked Pakistani Company with their perceived attractive compensation package as the main reason for their ability to attract talent.
The study was conducted by Engage Human Resources by interviewing 550 graduating MBA students from leading universities in Karachi, Lahore School of Economics, CBM, University of Lahore, and Quaid-e-Azam University.
Mr Khurshid Hadi, Chairman, Engage Human Resources, in his welcome address stressed on the employer branding perspective and said, “Now more than ever companies in the dynamic Pakistan need to understand what it takes to attract, motivate and retain the talent. The Most Preferred Graduate Employer study provides invaluable insights not only into how Most Preferred Employers achieve this but also how other organizations can achieve similar status”.
