Geo Super to telecast IPL matches live
RAWALPINDI: The first sports channel in Pakistan, Geo Super has decided to telecast live matches of Indian Premier League (IPL) starting on April 18.There will be total 59 Twenty20 matches in this mega event, which will be played between April 18 and June 1.
Viewers will have a chance to see great cricket stars besides more than 10 Pakistani players in action during these matches. Skipper of Pakistan Cricket Team Shoaib Malik, All Rounder Shahid Afridi, fast bowlers Mohammad Asif, Umar Gul, Sohail Tanvir, star batsmen Mohammad Yousaf, Younis Khan, Misbah-ul-Haq, Yasir Hameed and Muhammad Hafeez will represent various Indian teams during this mega event whereas inclusion of Shoaib Akhtar depends on the final decision on the hearing of his appeal.
By telecasting limited-over live matches Geo Super in a very brief period has gained tremendous popularity amongst its viewers. Geo Super has also telecast live matches of Indian Cricket League (ICL). But the Indian Premier League is expected to attract still a larger number of viewers since only Test-match players will be contesting in this mega event. Besides, top Bollywood stars would also be shown supporting their teams. A total of eight teams Banglore Royal Challengers, Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Daredevils, Deccan Chargers, Kings Eleven Punjab, Kolkata Night Riders, Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals are participating in this event.
