GEO employee’s condition critical

KARACHI, April 13 2006: Four injured persons from April 11, bomb explosion at Nishtar Park were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital on Tuesday night. While three of them were discharged after treatment, GEO TV driver Mazhar Hussain is struggling for his life in the Intensive Care Unit of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

On a visit to the ICU ,it was disclosed that Mazhar Hussain was unconscious and under treatment .Doctors say that Mazhar Hussain is not out of danger and it would take two or three days for his condition to stabilize. Talking to the news at the ICU, one of the consulting physicians, Dr Estaraj, said that the media employee has suffered multiple wounds in his abdomen and other parts of the body so not final prognosis could be made.

Muhammad Farooq younger brother of Mazhar Hussain who was close to his bed, said that an old man had visited their house in Orangi Town on Tuesday night at about 8PM and informed the family of the mishap .There was so much confusion after the blast Nishtar Park that many people lost touch with their colleagues. In the case of Mazhar Hussain his employers were unable to trace his whereabouts despite hectic efforts.

Farooq said so far he is satisfied with the doctor and the treatment being given to his brother, GEO staffers had also visited him and inquired after his health.
