Four killed over Karo-Kari

JACOBABAD: Four persons, including a girl, were killed over Karo-Kari in Thul and Qambar Talukas on Tuesday. Two brothers were killed over a lingering Karo-Kari dispute in the village of Bahadurpur in the jurisdiction of the Dil Murad police station, Taluka Thul. Gulsher and Gul Meer, sons of Muhammad Gabol, were going to Jacobabad to attend a court hearing when two motorcyclists opened fire on them, killing both of them on the spot. Villagers took the bodies to the Bahadurpur village, where hundreds of people gathered. Carrying the bodies, the villagers took out a protest. They burnt tyres on the National Highway and suspended tarrafic between Shikarpur and Jacobabad for two hours. They demanded the arrest of the killers. DPO Jacobabad Munir Ahmed Khuhro, along with a heavy contingent of police, assured the protes-ters that the killers would be arrested soon.

On the DPO’s assurance, the protesters ended the protest. Shaman Ali Gabol, a cousin of the deceased, lodged an FIR against Haroon, Arib, Aftab Ahmed, Dil Murad, Shafi Muhammad, Abdul Majid, Ghulam Qadir, Muhammad Salah and others with the Dil Murad police. All the accused belong to the Banglani tribe. Sources said police have arrested two persons. Our Khairpur correspondent adds: A man allegedly killed his sister and her alleged paramour on the pretext of Karo-Kari in the village of Wahid Dino Kalhoro, near Qamber, on Tuesday. Gul Jan Mangsi gunned down his sister Gul Bibi and her alleged paramour Niaz Ali Mangsi by declaring them Karo and Kari.
