FM radio stations’ broadcast from five major cities next

ISLAMABAD, July 25 : Vice Chancellor, Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), Dr. Mehmood-ul-Hasan Butt Wednesday said that AIOU’s FM radio stations would start broadcast from five major regional campuses and offices
of the country during the next financial year.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of FM radio station’s test transmission, he said that AIOU would extend the FM radio services to its 36 regional offices to facilitate the students as well as
general public.

Launching of the broadcast would help to enhance national solidarity, he said. He said that AIOU FM radio station’s broadcasts are being heard upto 40 kms areas of the twin cities, Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

According to our information, the broadcasts of AIOU FM radio station are being heard at Taxila, Hasanabdal and Gujar Khan, he further said.

VC AIOU said that Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation has also started educational broadcasts of AIOU from nine different cities. He said PEMRA has allotted 91.6 National Frequency to AIOU for promotion of
education.

He added that vis-a-vis and traditional lectures trend was diminishing during the present age in universities. He said radio broadcasts of AIOU would not only facilitate its university students
but also the common citizen.

Dr. Mehmood-ul-Hasan Butt said that AIOU was striving hard to promote quality moral values in the society through education.

He disclosed that Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) satellite T.V channel would start telecast during the next 18 months.

Addressing the ceremony, Dr. Inam-ul-Haq Javed, Acting Dean Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities said that his department would soon start diploma program at Pakistani languages, which would
comprise on six months period.

He added unique leadership like Dr. Mehmood-ul-Hasan Butt has made the AIOU a “media base university” in the real sense for long-distance education.

He said AIOU would organize an international lingual conference in December, the same year.

Senior Producer, Qasim Haider, Akhtar Imam Rizvi, Abid Hussain Khawaja, Zia-ur-Rehman Baloch and Abdul Basit Mujahid also spoke to the ceremony.
