Elections of HUJ, Press Club complete

ABBOTTABAD- Annual elections of the Haripur Union of Journalists (HUJ), and Press Club Haripur were completed, while Khanzada Amjad Khan was unanimously elected President for 6th consecutive time for the year 2000 and 2001, which is correspondent of the daily Jang, Rawalpindi.

Waseem Azhar Turabi (Ausaf), General Secretary, Haripur Press Club, Mahmood-ur-Rehman (Maidan), Coordination Secretary, Haripur Press Club, (HPC). Like-wise, Abdul Waheed, Rabbani, Correspondent Urdu daily Asas, President Haripur Union of Journalists (HUJ), while Fakhar-e-Alam (Jasarat) and Musharraf Hazarvi (Shumal) were elected General Secretary and Joint Secretary of the HUJs respectively.

Sardar Shaukat Hussain (Khabrain) was elected unopposed as Senior Vice President, Muhammad Arif Khan (NNI), Irshad Khan (Asas) Vice-President first and second respectively. Moreover, M. Rizwan Qureshi (Asas) and Qasim (Din) were elected treasurers of the HPC and HUJs respectively, while Sheikh Zahoorul Islam was elected Chairman of the Executive Committee.

Dr. Hasnain Raza, prominent physician and scholar were present on the occasion. who while commenting on the journalism said that the role of media is the 4th pillar of a country, so, in order to promote healthy journalism the journalists should play their vital role.

They should work for the betterment of the society by using their pen.

The Press Club, Haripur and the HUJs are playing key role and they are often using their pen for the production of healthy outcome in the society.

He expressed the hope that both the bodies of journalists will follow their respective traditions as usual with befitting manners. Moreover he said that such people should not be encouraged who keeps negative thinking for the journalistic values in the society.
