Eight more killed in Karachi

KARACHI: At least eight people were gunned down in different incidents of violence in the city on Thursday, police and rescue sources said. In the first incident a body of a man stuffed in a gunny bag was found at M.A Jinnah road near Tibat Centre falling in the limits of Preedy police station. The deceased was identified as Rashid Mir, 27, son of Mir Afsar, resident of Usmanabad area.

Police said that unknown, armed men kidnapped the victim a day ago from the Usmanabad area and killed him from point blank range before throwing the body at an abandoned place. They said that the deceased used to run a cycle shop in Usmanabad near Sadiqu-e-Akbar Masjid. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital for medico-legal formalities. In another incident a man was gunned down near Aurangzeb Market in the limits of Eidghah police station.

The deceased was identified as Qamar Hussain, 22, son of Miraj Hussain, resident of Ranchorline. Police said that unknown armed men killed Qamar with multiple gunshots near NJV College and fled. The body was shifted to CHK for post mortem examination. The body of a young man was found in Gulbai area in the limits of Shershah police station. Police said that the unidentified men kidnapped the deceased and killed him with gunfire and threw the body at an abandoned place. The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained till the filing of this report. The body was moved to the hospital for medico-legal formalities.

In yet another incident a man was shot dead by unknown armed men in Landhi area in the jurisdiction of the Landhi police station. The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained till the filing of this report. Police said that unidentified armed men riding motorcycles intercepted the deceased and opened indiscriminate fire as a result he sustained severe injuries and died on the spot. The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

In the meantime a police constable namely Iqbal who was injured in a shooting incident on October 25 succumbed to injuries in the hospital during treatment. Separately, another of body of a man was found near Lyari Nadi, Golimar area in the limits of the Pak Colony police station. The deceased was identified as Asif Ghouri son of Islam-u-Din. The body was shifted to ASH for medico-legal formalities.

Saddar police also found the body of a man beneath the Cantt Bridge, who was tortured and killed with a metal rod. The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained. The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities. In addition to this, a body of a young man was found from the Ramswami area near the NADRA office in the limits of Nabi Buksh police station. Police said that the deceased was a drug addict and killed with a metal tool by his accomplices when they scuffled on a petty issue. The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi for autopsy. Meanwhile a man was shot and injured in Sultanabad area near the Habib public school. The injured was identified as Mohammad Ali, son of Ishaq.
