Ebad orders completion of journalist housing project
Karachi: The Sindh governor has directed the authorities to complete all development projects related to the journalists housing project in Karachi initiated on the directives of President Asif Ali Zardari.
Dr Ishratul Ebad said this during a meeting with the president of Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ), GM Jamali, at the Governor’s House on Saturday.
The governor assured the KUJ chief that all possible assistance would be provided for the development of the journalists housing scheme as well as their welfare programmes.
He said the government would fully cooperate in the construction of roads, water supply, and sewerage system for the residency project at Korangi Road near Defence. “All these projects will be completed as early as possible.
Ebad assured that the government would also cooperate in the welfare of the families of the journalists who died on-duty.
Jamali told the governor about setting up a journalists’ “Endowment Fund” with Rs50million in Karachi. He thanked the government for providing the grant for the journalists’ fund and the land for the housing project.
