Discussion on investigative journalism

ISLAMABAD- Individualland Pakistan, a non-profit development organization would hold a focus group discussion on Investigative Journalism’ on July 6.

IL-Pakistan has initiated a project on mapping and gauging the prevalent status of investigative journalism in the country. It is actively engaged with the media, holding active training of print, radio and electronic media personnel on civic issues as well as using media as an ally for change. The progress made in 2002, regarding the great expansion in electronic media has made it a powerful tool, however, there is dire need to improve the quality and address the difficulties, of investigative journalism, risen out of this situation. The media in their investigative stories, to unearth corrupt practices, mostly use sources which remain unidentified and cast a shadow of doubt on the authenticity of the report.
