Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations appoints 3 focal persons to coordinate with journalists facing security issues

RAWALPINDI – Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Islamabad Afzaal Ahmed Kausar has taken concrete steps to provide security to the media men covering judicial complex, district and Islamabad High Court, informed a spokesman here on Tuesday.

In this regard, the DIG appointed three focal persons for a better coordination between police and the court reporters, he added. According to him, Superintendent of Police (SP) Saddar Zone Farooq Ahmed Bhutter was appointed as focal person for liaison with court reporters. Similarly, SDPO Malik Bashir Police Station Margalla was tasked to provide security to reporters dispensing official duties in Islamabad district courts, whereas, SDPO Ramna Khalid Mehmood Awan was appointed focal person to coordinate with reporters covering Judicial Complex and Islamabad High Court, he added.

He said earlier a delegation of Islamabad High Court Reporters Association led by President Saqib Bashir called on DIG Operations Islamabad Muhammad Afzaal Ahmed Kausar and expressed deep concerns over occurrence of an incident in district courts where heirs and friends of Usman Mirza gang threatened the reporters gathered there for coverage. Saqib Bashir said the anti-social elements wanted the reporters to stay away from coverage of pending cases with courts. On this, DIG Operations Afzaal Ahmed Kausar assured the delegation for provision of full security.

Saqib Bashir and other journalists thanked Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Qazi Jamil Ur Rehman and DIG Operations Afzaal Ahmed Kausar for cooperating with media and appointing focal persons to coordinate with journalists in security related issues.
