Deal signed with Korean software companies for joint product development

ISLAMABAD, July 02 2005: Centre of Advanced Research in Engineering and Software Pakistan signed agreement with Hyundai IT company Korea as well as with PMB of Korea for joint product development. This was stated by Awais Leghari Federal Minister for IT and Telecom, here on July 3 while talking to members of a delegation of Pakistani software companies, that visited Korea recently.

He said that IT ministry has lot of business opportunities through collaboration with Korean companies by complementing competencies, products and bidding jointly in international markets of Middle East.

During this visit, the delegates met a number of Korean software companies specialising in embedded software, which is a growing market segment both in Korea and Pakistan. Globally, there is a multibillion-dollar market for embedded software and development tools and is expected to grow in future.

The delegates also participated in the ‘Esk-2005 IT Exhibition’ and in the ‘2005 IT Opportunity Business Event’ arranged by Korean IT Promotion Agency in which companies from a number of countries got a chance to interact on one to one basis and explore areas of mutual interest.

The minister said that the delegates also met officials of the Korea International Co-operation Agency (KOICA) to discuss plans of the Korean government to support the expanding relations between the IT companies of two countries.

He said that the Korean government is currently considering a proposal to depute a marketing expert to Pakistan to promote one to one linkages between Pakistani and Korean software houses.

The President has earlier signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) for promoting collaboration in the field of IT between Korean Ministry of Information and Communication and the Pakistan Ministry of Information Technology, he added.
