Daniel was over-intrusive, says IG

KARACHI- Inspector General of Police Sindh, Syed Kamal Shah said on Tuesday that Daniel Pearl was over-intrusive. He was addressing the members of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) at its office.

Assistant Inspector General (AIG), Asad Jehangir, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Investigation, Fayaz Leghari, DIG Traffic Saud Mirza, Anti Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) chief, Razaq Cheema, KCCI president, AQ Khalil and large number of businessmen were present on the occasion.

Daniel produced himself for kidnapping as he could have avoided this by agreeing with the suspected abductors over E-mail interview with Mubarak Geelani who had offered this facility to him. He lamented that there was no law about cyber crime in the country. “Fake E-mail callers complicated the case by diverting our attention besides causing wastage to resource and energy,” Inspector General Police (IGP) said, adding, that whole week was wasted on proving the five Emails sent from Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar as Fake. As the police have no equipment to detect the cyber crimes, we were compelled to seek help from FBI, he added.

Talking about targeted killing in the City, especially murder of doctors recently, Syed Kamal Shah informed that three gangs involved in sectarian killings have been busted while a main gang is still operating whose members have been identified and they would be arrested soon. He disclosed that sectarian terrorists are also operating through Email.

Syed Kamal Shah said that for early detection and immediate arrest of the suspects, latest video cameras would be installed on important places, for which negotiations are going on with a multinational company.

He said that action against blacksheep of police Department is being initiated and a list is being prepared for their early dismissal.

KCCI president, A.Q Khalil highlighted the problems of the business community.
