Cybernet invests Rs60m

ISLAMABAD – The Cybernet, an Internet Service Provide (ISP) has invested Rs60 million to provide broadband Internet facility in the country. It has also planned to Rs400 million so as to provide over 50,000 DSL Connections and better Internet service.

It was unveiled by Director and Chief Operating Officer of Cybernet, Ansar ul Haq at the first lucky draw to celebrate 7th anniversary of the Cybernet.

He appreciated Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) for its liberal and forward-looking policies for the DSL broadband services in Pakistan.

Ansar said during the pilot project Cybernet has already installed DSL connections in 50 telephone exchanges in five major cities including Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Faisalabad and Peshawar, and expanded this in 10 more cities this year.

The PTCL is getting Rs2 million extra revenue per month due to DSL broadband service of the Cybernet. Present1y, Cybernet is paying about Rs12.5 million per month to PTCL, he added.

He hoped that after success of the pilot project, Cybernet would launch a mega project later this year to accelerate the penetration of DSL broadband services in the country.

Presently, Cybernet is providing 300,000 Internet connections allover the country, he said and added his company has established its service in 20 cities and would increase its reach to 35 to 40 more cities by this year.
