Cybernet holds lucky draw

KARACHI – The leading Internet Service Provider (ISP), Cybernet has invested Rs 60 million to provide broadband Internet connections and would further invest Rs 400 million to provide over 50,000 DSL connections in the country, all because of the liberal and forward looking policies of PTA.

Chief Operating Officer Cybernet, Ansarul Haq stated this at the first lucky draw to celebrate 7th anniversary of the Cybernet on April 5. Zahid Nasir won the grand prize of Rs 100,000, whereas five other winners were awarded free 30 Internet hours.

Over 17,000 subscribers took part in the first draw. Cybernet would hold four more lucky draws in which the subscribers who purchase Rs 500 hours during that week could participate.

Ansarul Haq said that during the pilot project, the Cybernet has already installed DSL connections in 50 telephone exchanges in five major cities including Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Faisalabad and Peshawar and would expand this to 10 more cities this year.

The PTCL is getting Rs2 million extra revenue per month due to DSL broadband service of Cybernet and presently, in all Cybernet is paying about Rs 12.5 million per month to PTCL, he added.

He hoped that that after success of the pilot project, Cybernet would launch a mega project later this year to accelerate the penetration of DSL broadband services in the country.

Presently, Cybernet is providing 300,000 Internet connections all over the country. COO Cybernet said that his company has established its service in 20 cities and would increase its reach to 35 to 40 more cities by end of this year.

General Manager Marketing Cybernet, Syed Abulhasan Rizvi told newsmen present that subscribers from all over the country took part in the lucky draw adding that the response in Karachi was overwhelming.
