CPNE pays tributes to Manzarul Hasan

KARACHI- Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) President Mujibur Rehman Shami and General Secretary Mahmudul Aziz along with former CPNE presidents, Business Recorder Editor M.A. Zuberi and daily Millat Editor Inquilab Matri paid glowing tributes to late Manzarul Hasan, editor of daily Leader, who expired in Karachi on May 6, 2003 after protracted illness.

In a joint statement, they said that Manzarul Hasan had secured through sheer hard work and dedication an honoured place in the comity of newspaper editors in Pakistan.

He had shown equal abilities in both Urdu and English journalism and was one of the most ardent fighters for press freedom, while being an active member of the CPNE.

They extended condolences to the members of the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul.

CPNE President Mujibur Rehman Shami said that the CPNE standing committee at its Karachi meeting on the morning of May 9, 2003, would also adopt a resolution lauding the services of late Manzarul Hasan to journalism as an editor and member of the CPNE.
