Couple facing life threats demands security
SUKKUR: A married couple facing life threats appealed to the court here on Tuesday to provide them security.
Saira Jatoi and Muhammad Ismail Soomro, who were saved by the police from being killed as punishment for marrying of their own free will, were produced in the court of the second civil judge and judicial magistrate amid tight security. Judge Iqbal Maitlo recorded the statements of the couple under Section 164.
Saira said in her statement that she had married Ismail of her own free will and wanted to live with him. She appealed to the court to provide them security as they were facing threats to their lives.
The police later shifted the couple to an undisclosed location. The police also produced Mir Jatoi, the accused in the kidnapping of Dr Javed Soomro and his wife Sumaiya Soomro, in the court. The judge remanded him for four days to the police custody.
