Contempt of court hearing against Geo TV
LAHORE:A Lahore High Court full bench today (Monday) will take up conÂtempt of court proceedings against Geo TV for telecasting a programme, which was seen as an attempt to lower the esteem of the judiciary.
During the previous hearing, the bench consisting of Justices Sayed Zahid Hussain, Asif Saeed Khan Khosa, MA Shahid Siddiqui, Syed Shabbar Raza Rizvi and Sheikh Azmat Saecd had issued the directive to the Jang Group to repeatedly teleÂcast an apology on the TV besides publishing it prominently on front pages of their dailies Jang and The News till the next hearing (March 12).
The bench issued these directions after Mir Shakil-urÂRehman tendered unconditionÂal apology, confessing that the telecasted information about the LHC was not based on reality and was not verified.
